BLOW, 2014, Documentation of Video Installation Yet another BLOW, 2014, Excerpt from 10min live performance
Yet Another Blow is a 20-minute live performance with artist Hanul Kim. Concurring with the video installation BLOW, the performance is an expansion of the idea behind the installation, into a collaborative 'happening'. Using the fan (a real object), which in the installation space counterpoints the video of blowing (a timeless, non-reality) as a focal object in this particular installation/performance, live improvised electric sound was played in both low frequency (bass guitar) and high frequency (guitar). It is to accentuate and merge with the sound of a blowing fan, which is attached to a contact mic and amped up through a speaker. As a result, an object (fan) is successfully transformed into a musical entity, and the electric sound, which becomes an ambience by filling up the space with excruciating noise, metamorphoses into an object. The interchangeable relationship between object and sound has been found. The performance of washing hair with buckets of water renders the public space a private domain, and along with the fan, it implements the objectivity by highlighting and mystifying a mundane activity and being transformed into the context of art.
